American University of Sharjah Background:
The American University of Sharjah is a private university which was established in the year 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah. The university was envisaged by His Highness as a leading educational institution in the Gulf region. The university is located in the University City in Sharjah, AUS is a not-for-profit, independent institution of higher education formed on the American higher education model.

American University of Sharjah Programs, Courses, and Schools:
The American University of Sharjah offers 26 major and 48 minor programs at the undergraduate level, 14 master's degrees programs and one Ph.D. program through the following academic divisions: College of Architecture, Art and Design, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, and the School of Business Administration. As a provider of quality higher education in the Gulf, The American University of Sharjah is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Education's Higher Education Affairs Division.

The American University of Sharjah is the flagship institution of University City, a 1,600-acre complex that includes other educational establishments. The center of the university campus comprises 12 academic buildings.
