Anglo American University is the oldest private university in Czech Republic, founded in 1990 soon after the collapse of communism in the country. It was founded as Anglo American College and later renamed as Anglo American University. Its main campus is located in the newly restored Thurn-Taxis Palace
The university comprises of 5 schools: School of Business Administration; School of Humanities and Social Sciences; School of International Relations and Diplomacy; School of Journalism and John H. Carey II School of Law. The students of the university have an opportunity to study at international locations through its Erasmus Exchange and University Exchange programs. The details of the exchange vary as per the agreement with the partner university but the students must remain registered at Anglo American University and continue to pay their tuition fee. The university also offers Erasmus Work Placements under it offers a limited number of funded international internships each year through the Erasmus Work Placements program.
Anglo American University hosts students from over 60 nationalities. In 2016 the university successfully received WASC accreditation, becoming the first university in Europe to receive this kind of partnership.
Courses are provided in English. Professors at the university have degrees from Cambridge, Berkeley, Stanford, Yale, and Paris-Sorbonne.
