Jojoba Seed Collection Machine

In 2016, engineers at Assiut University’s Technology Transfer Unit unveiled a specialized machine for collecting jojoba seeds. Developed under Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis and Dr. Wael M. Khairalla, and led by Mohammed Eid and Ahmed Nageeb, this mechanized solution harnesses targeted vibration and suction to efficiently harvest jojoba seeds—colloquially known as “green gold.” Prior to this, seed collection was labor-intensive, relying heavily on manual gathering. This invention significantly reduces harvesting time and labor costs for farmers. Designed to withstand the region’s climatic challenges, it enhances economic viability for jojoba producers in Upper Egypt. The project underscores the university’s commitment to practical, agro‑industrial innovation that uplifts rural livelihoods
