Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology History

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 1912. It is a public university which is situated in Bangladesh. Its roots were laid in 1876 as Dhaka Survey School but later its names changes to Ahsanullah School of Engineering to Ahsanullah Engineering College to East Pakistan University of Engineering and Technology to its present name in 1971.

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Programs, Courses and Schools

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology is organised into five faculties, six institutes and six research centres. There are 18 academic departments which offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. Students can also opt for research and diploma programs and it also medical centre.

Faculties of the university hold doctoral and master’s degree in their field of education. It mainly focus on engineering and architectural teachings. It is the oldest university of Bangladesh offering education in engineering, architecture and urban planning.

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology has an urban infrastructure with an area of 84 acres. Students are provided with the facilities like campus security, academic buildings, athletic fields and courts, gym, recreational area, auditorium, cultural centre and halls. Student clubs and committees organises various activities, both indoors and outdoors, and workshops and conferences in the university. Student media includes journals and bulletin.

Central library is a four storey building with each department having its dedicated section. It is stocked with books, journals, magazines, guides, papers, articles and publications. It is meant for all technical, research and administrative works having databases, e-resources, computers and study rooms.
