Barry University History

Barry University's history started as a Women’s College through the efforts of Rev. Patrick Barry and his sister Rev. Mother Mary Gerald Barry. Until the year 1940, it was known as Barry College. On November 13, 1981, it became Barry University. It is sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan. It is one of the largest Catholic higher education universities in Miami. It has a religious affiliation with Catholicism.
