For students whose tax residence is in the canton of Bern for at least two years, you can apply for cantonal grants and loans through the cantonal education authority.
Yes, under the Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP), exchange students receive grants. For a semester, this amounts to a flat rate of CHF 2,000 or CHF 2,300, depending on the country of origin of your home institution. During a SEMP placement, you do not pay tuition fees at BFH but remain matriculated at your home university
You are responsible for finding your own accommodation. The BFH campus is located in the canton of Bern (Bern, Biel, Burgdorf, Zollikofen) and Basel-Landschaft (Münchenstein). The association Student Lodge offers affordable housing for students in the Bern region. A limited number of rooms are also available on campus specifically for students of the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL)
For HAFL campus housing, the application deadlines are 15 May for the autumn semester and 15 December for the spring semester. Monthly rent including utilities ranges from CHF 450 to CHF 630, depending on the room category. Students from other departments must seek private accommodation through external platforms.
