Birkbeck, University of London is a public research institution located in London, Bloomsbury, England and a constituent college of federal University of London. It was established in 1823 as London Mechanic Institute and became the constituent college of University of London in 1920.

Birkbeck comprises of five schools which cover a wide range of academic disciplines: School of Arts; School of Business, Economics & Informatics; School of Law; School of Science and School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy. Each school comprises of various departments. In total more than 200 full-time degree programs are offered at Birkbeck both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. 

The total number of students at Birkbeck is over 12,200 of which more than 8,200 are enrolled in the undergraduate courses. The student to faculty ratio at Birkbeck is 24:1.

Birkbeck has a partnership with ONCAMPUS London that offers Undergraduate Foundation Program, Royal Holloway Foundation Program, International Foundation Program, International Year One Program and Masters Foundation Program.  The Undergraduate Foundation Program offers Progression (subject to fulfillment of specified criteria) to Year 1 of a wide range of undergraduate degrees or the International Year One Program. Royal Holloway Foundation Program provides guaranteed progression (subject to fulfillment of specified criteria) to Year 1 of a wide range of undergraduate degrees at Royal Holloway, University of London.

The International Foundation Program offers opportunity to progress to range of undergraduate courses at University of London. The International Year-1 offers guaranteed (subject to fulfillment of specified criteria) progression to Year-2 of selected Business degrees at Birkbeck, University of London. The Master’s Foundation Program is available as a two or three term program offering progression (subject to fulfillment of specified criteria) to range of Master’s degrees.
