Broward College Central Campus

Broward College, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a public institution. It's a part of the University of Florida system. It was founded in 1959 as part of a push to expand Florida's two-year college options. It was given its current name in 2008 to reflect the fact that it is one of the few colleges classified as a "state college," which means it can provide four-year bachelor's degrees.

Broward College Central Campus History

Broward College was established in 1959 as the Broward County Junior College (JCBC). The very next year, under the guidance of President Joe B. Rushing, it opened its doors to a class of 701 students and a staff of 28. Students attended classes in the former Naval Air Station Junior High facilities on the western edge of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport until the college's first permanent buildings were constructed in 1963.

Broward College was named one of the top regional institutions in the South by U.S. News & World Report, a global authority in education. The College was also ranked second in the region for ethnic diversity. The IIE Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education was given to Broward College in 2019. Broward College won the award in the International Partnerships category for its initiative "The Third Way," which allows students to finish an associate degree at Broward College before transferring to a college or university in the United States.

 Broward College's Central Campus is known as A. Hugh Adams. The main campus of Broward College is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In Broward County, Broward College includes three campuses and six centers.

Broward College Central Campus Libraries

The University/College library (U/CL) on Broward College's A Hugh Adams' Central Campus is a four-story joint-use facility for students, teachers, and employees from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Broward College (BC). A reference desk, café, open stacks, archives/special collections, study rooms, learning resource labs (Academic Success Center), interlibrary loan, and a check-out desk are all available at the library.

University Pointe, which is just minutes from school, offers a variety of living alternatives, including studio apartments, 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom units. University Pointe's features include a state-of-the-art gym, study rooms, lounge areas, a swimming pool, a free shuttle to university, and, beginning in early 2020, retail shops and a variety of dining options. Broward College has no control over University Pointe's activities and cannot be held responsible for any difficulties that may arise.
