To apply for the BUEB Scholarship, you must be a full-time, self-financing undergraduate student with at least two completed active semesters. You need a cumulative limited adjusted credit index of 3.5 or higher and must have earned an average of at least 30 credits over the semester. The application is submitted electronically via the Modulo system

How do I find accommodation in Budapest, and what is the typical cost?

BUEB does not provide on-campus housing, so you need to arrange your own accommodation. Most students live in shared apartments or private dorms, which typically cost between €250–€400 per month. You can use international platforms like Booking.com or Airbnb for temporary stays and local groups for long-term rentals. It's recommended to book a short initial stay and then search for permanent housing after you arrive in the city

What are the average monthly living expenses for a student in Budapest?

Besides rent, students typically spend around €350–€400 per month on food, transport, study materials, and leisure activities. A monthly student travel pass is very affordable at 3450 HUF (€8–€10), and groceries cost about €150–€200. For a comfortable life, you should plan for a total monthly budget of approximately €600–€800

What is the new rule for extending my residence permit as a student?

If you have a valid residence permit, you must start the extension procedure at least 45 days before your current permit officially expires. This new rule is taken very seriously by the immigration office. If you submit your request within these 45 days, you must provide a specific explanation for the delay

What happens if my residence permit expires before I submit an extension request?

If your permit expires and you have not submitted an extension request, there is no longer any option for leniency. You will automatically be required to leave Hungary by the deadline given by the immigration office. There is no possibility for an appeal, and failing to leave in time can lead to deportation and serious legal consequences
