Catholic University of Portugal History

The Catholic University of Portugal also known as UCP or Universidade Catolica Portuguesa is a concordatary non-state-run university located in Lisbon, Portugal. The university was established by the decree of Lusitanorum Nobilissima Gens in 1967, gained university recognition in 1971, and currently enrolls over 12,000 students.

The Catholic University of Portugal is a decentralized university and offers different programs across four locations. The Lisbon campus offers programs in Business & Economics, Human Sciences, Law, Theology, Health Sciences, Political Studies, and Canonical Law. Beiras Center in Viseu offers subjects like Management, Social Sciences, Architecture, and Sciences.

The Catholic University of Portugal is highly regarded for its Lisbon MBA degree which is run in partnership with Universidade Nova de Lisboa. The university also runs an MBA program in partnership with prestigious MIT Sloan School of Management which is offered both full and part-time. The program is AMBA, AASCB, and EQUIS accredited.

The Catholic University of Portugal is an averagely selective institution and has a 50% acceptance rate although entry into the Lisbon MBA is highly competitive. The university offers financial aid and tuition fee assistance to its students in addition to numerous study abroad opportunities.
