Catholic University of the North History

Catholic University of the North was established in the year 1956. It is a traditional university which is situated in Antofagasta in Chile. It was set up on the faith of Christian tradition. It started with the enrolment of 100 students in 1957. The land for setting up the university was donated by Mrs. Berta Gonzalez de Astorga.

Catholic University of the North Programs, Courses and Schools 

Catholic University of the North is categorised into seven academic faculties which are divided into 20 departments, eight schools, three institutes and seven research centres. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in various disciplines of study. Innovation and research studies are also offered.

Faculties of the university are qualified from the known universities and hold the position of assistant professor or professor. Additional study courses offered include student exchange program, language training, continuing education, diploma and technical training. It is highly recognised for its research projects.

Catholic University of the North is built with modern architecture and highly secure campus facilities and security services. Student life is made fun with services like eateries, conference rooms, culture centre, recreational area, academic units, athletic courts, theatre, healthcare centre, auditorium, gym, museum, technological park and training centre. Students can become the part of student clubs and associations. Student media include journals, editorials and a radio station.

University library is a knowledge pool equipped with books, publications, study materials, archives, research guides, documents and periodicals. Databases, computer systems, tutorials, training rooms, printing service, study rooms, self renewal services, sitting area and help centre are available.

Centre for World University Rankings has ranked it among the top 20 universities of the country and among the top 1700 universities of the world. It comes among the top 15% universities of the world. It students and faculties have bagged accolades in various competitions and tournaments.

Students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships, grants and other kinds of fees waivers offered by the university. Students have to meet the set eligibility criteria.
