Can I apply for admission if I haven't yet received my final degree?

Yes, you can apply and be accepted without having earned your high school diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s degree at the time of application. However, you will only be able to enroll if you submit adequate proof of having graduated by the time the term begins at CEU.

What types of degree programs does CEU offer and how long are they?

CEU currently only offers fall enrollment for its bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. One-year master's programs typically run for 10 months, two-year master's programs run for 20 months, and doctoral programs take four years to complete.

Is there an application fee and how many programs can I apply to?

Yes, there is a non-refundable application fee of EUR 30. The good news is that you only have to pay this fee once, no matter how many programs you apply to (up to five per admissions cycle).

Does CEU require the GRE or GMAT?

No, CEU does not generally require the GRE or GMAT for admission. The department will handle the evaluation of your academic background if you are offered admission.

How can I be considered for financial aid at CEU?

CEU awards academic merit-based financial aid. To be considered, you must indicate your interest in the financial aid section of the online application form and submit your complete application by the designated financial aid deadline.

Does CEU operate its own student dormitories?

No, CEU does not operate its own dormitories. However, students can choose from a wide variety of accommodation providers across the city, including public student residences, privately operated dormitories, and private rentals such as shared apartments (WGs) or studio flats.

What is the process for non-EEA students to get a residence permit for studying at CEU?

Non-EEA citizens planning to stay in Austria for more than three months must obtain a residence permit. You can apply for a Student Residence Permit either from your home country or country of residence, or at the Immigration Office (MA35) in Austria after your arrival.

What are the options for graduates who want to work in Austria after completing their studies?

Non-EU/EEA graduates of an Austrian university may be eligible for the "Red-White-Red Card for Graduates," a special residence and work permit. The basic prerequisite is obtaining a university diploma from an Austrian university within the last twelve months. The application for the work permit is typically filed by the employer.
