China University of Petroleum History

The China University of Petroleum is a Chinese university with its campuses located in the cities of Beijing, Dongying, and Qingdao. The university was established in 1953 as Beijing Petroleum Institute and was subsequently moved, merged, and renamed to Huadong Petroleum Institute. It adopted its present name in 1988.

The China University of Petroleum is renowned for its programs in Petroleum Engineering and Sciences in upstream, midstream, and downstream stages. The university was established as a specialized institute to conduct study and research in petroleum sciences.

The China University of Petroleum offers programs in five key areas. They are Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering, Mineral Resources Prospecting and Exploration, Oil and Gas Well Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, and Oil and Gas Field Development Engineering.

The China University of Petroleum is spread over three campuses located in Changping District in Beijing, East China campus in Beijing, and an old campus in the city of Dongying. All the campuses offer a wide range of services to students.
