Step-by-Step Guide to Admission Requirements at College of Southern Nevada

Open Enrollment Policy: CSN is an open-access, non-selective institution. Any adult aged 16 or older is eligible to apply, and admission is granted to virtually all applicants. The general acceptance rate is effectively 100%.

Application Process:

Complete an online admissions application.

Pay a $20 application fee (non-refundable).

No high school diploma/GED is formalized as a requirement for admission—though it is required for eligibility for financial aid.

Applications are rolling, so it’s recommended to apply early to secure class registration.

Additional Steps for New Students:

Apply for financial aid.

Take placement tests in English and Math—or optionally submit valid (under two years old) SAT/ACT or advanced placement scores—for course placement.

Participate in orientation, either online or in person.

Meet with an academic advisor to build a degree plan and register for classes.

Limited Entry Programs:

Certain selective programs (like Nursing, Dental Hygiene, etc.) require completion of a Limited Entry application packet, program-specific prerequisites, and workshop attendance.

These programs often have additional application procedures and deadlines, such as a February 1 deadline for Summer admission.

Important Deadlines (2025):

Fall 2025 Term: Starts August 25, 2025 — application currently open.

Spring 2025 Term: Starts January 20, 2025 — application currently open.
