 The College of the Rockies is a public community college in British Columbia, Canada, located in the southeast region of the province.

College of the Rockies History

   In 1971, James Patterson, a hard rock miner at the Sullivan Mine in Kimberley, BC, and a member of the local School Board, began the process of establishing a local vocational school, seeing the need for apprenticeship training. East Kootenay Community College was founded on May 8, 1975, following a government directive that the main campus be built in Cranbrook. East Kootenay Community College was renamed College of the Rockies in 1995.

The programs, courses, and services offered by College of the Rockies' five regional campuses are as varied as the towns and people they serve. The college provides a wide range of in-class and online programs in a variety of fields.

College of the Rockies Achievements/USP

The USP/Achievements of College of the Rockies is that it provides instruction in a wide variety of programs to approximately 2100 full-time equivalent (FTE) students each year, including close to 200 international (FTE) students from more than 30 countries, demonstrating an unquestioning commitment to providing relevant and high-quality education. Its cutting-edge campuses and facilities are helping to satisfy the East Kootenay's ever-increasing need for skilled workers and employees.

College of the Rockies Campuses

   The main campus of the College of the Rockies is in Cranbrook, with regional campuses in Creston, Fernie, Golden, Invermere, and Kimberley. The College of the Rockies campus has everything you need, including a library, dorms, a medical centre, a gym, and a cafe.

   Students at College of the Rockies have access to a library. College of the Rockies Library is the main library. The library features a computer lab, a large study area, and book and magazine sections. Students can also get aid with research writing and expert tutoring in the library.

College of the Rockies Housing services

    College of the Rockies has housing villages on campus that provide accommodations for students. The Village is made up of five secure apartments that provide residence for 100 Cranbrook students. Because it is close to the Kootenay Centre's main door, you can get to classes quickly.

    Students are covered by extended Medical Services/Health Insurance as a College of the Rockies student. Extended medical and dental coverage fills up any gaps in provincial and other basic health-care systems. The College of the Rockies Students' Association has collaborated with Student care to provide students with extended medical and dental coverage to assist them pay for the medical services they require.

College of the Rockies Students clubs

      All students who pay a membership fee are members of the College of the Rockies Students' Association. The Students' Association exists to preserve students' rights and to represent the interests of the entire student population, which is accomplished through the appointment of students to several College committees. The Association also offers a variety of student clubs based on diverse interests.

College of the Rockies student society

The College of the Rockies Students' Association (COTRSA) was established in 2003 to serve all College of the Rockies students. The COTRSA is a registered society in British Columbia that is separate from the College. Every registered student at College of the Rockies who pays the COTRSA fee is a member of the society and is eligible to vote in the Executive Committee elections, which take place twice a year in the fall and spring.

Through its gym and recreational centre, College of the Rockies provides sports and fitness facilities to its students. The College of the Rockies' sports and fitness centre has a variety of equipment, including trade mills, an exercise bike, a jogging track, an elliptical machine, and an AMT machine, among other things.

College of the Rockies Health & Wellbeing

The health and well-being of students at College of the Rockies is a top priority. As the first step toward developing and implementing an institution-wide strategy plan to become a health-promoting post-secondary institution, the College of Rockies has completed a Campus Health and Well-being Framework. The Okanagan Charter (2015), the International Charter for Health Promoting Colleges and Universities, and the Canadian National Standards for 'Mental Health and Well-being for Post-secondary Students' are all formally adopted by the College.

College of the Rockies Part-time jobs

Part-time jobs are available at College of the Rockies, but you must have a valid Social Insurance (SIN) number to work in Canada. If you work in Canada without the right authorization, you will be asked to leave the country.

  • It is necessary to have a valid Canada Study Permit.
  • You must be enrolled full-time in an academic program.
  • While classes are in session, you can work up to 20 hours per week and 40 hours per week during scheduled breaks (such as Christmas)

All members of the College community, including students, professors, staff, visitors, and guests, work hard to make the College of the Rockies a safe, secure, and welcome place. Cranbrook Campus Security Officers are on duty during working hours and are the first responders to all incidents, including medical crises. They keep a watch on the entire complex, including the buildings and parking areas.

Crime Around the area- Crane book is a safe and quiet city with a low crime rate.

Process- Students, graduates, and businesses looking for work at all levels are served by the Student, Graduate, and Co-op Employment Centre. Co-op programs with hands-on learning are available at College of the Rockies, in which students are linked with a company or organization to obtain practical experience while continuing their education.
