CUNY Hunter College History

CUNY Hunter College is located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York, United States. The college is the constituent college of City University of New York and was established in 1870 as a women-only college. The college presently enrolls over 20,000 students and also administers Hunter College Elementary School and Hunter College High School.

CUNY Hunter College offers a range of services to students such as dormitories, technologically advanced classrooms and lecture halls, dedicated study spaces, computers with wireless internet, and shops. The Hunter Library is home to over 760,000 titles including books, journals, and periodicals as well as CDs, videos, digital images, art slides, and microforms.

Princeton Review and USA Today have also ranked college 2nd in America in the Best Value Colleges in the United States. CUNY Hunter College has produced two Nobel Prize Laureates in the past and many of the alumni of the college have held or hold prominent positions in the government, industry, and business world.

CUNY Hunter College offers a number of opportunities to the students to study abroad and also offers scholarships and grants for the same. The college has signed bilateral agreements with a number of universities abroad to offer summer school programs as well.CUNY Hunter College has an acceptance rate of just 37.9% which makes the college a selective institution. The admissions are based on SAT scores and previous academic records.
