Application Form
Prospective students must submit a completed application through the Common Application or the Dickinson College application portal. The application includes personal information, academic history, and extracurricular activities.
High School Transcripts
Applicants must submit official transcripts from all high schools attended. These transcripts should reflect the courses taken, grades earned, and graduation status. International students may need to provide a certified English translation if the transcripts are not in English.
Standardized Test Scores
Dickinson College is test-optional, meaning that submitting SAT or ACT scores is not required. However, students may choose to submit these scores if they believe it enhances their application. If submitted, scores will be considered along with other application materials.
English Language Proficiency
For international students, proof of English proficiency is required. This can be demonstrated through one of the following:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): A minimum score of 100 on the Internet-based test (iBT) is recommended.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System): A minimum score of 7.0 or higher.
Duolingo English Test: A minimum score of 120 or higher is accepted.
Cambridge English Exam: A minimum score of 180 or higher.
English language education: Students who have completed at least two years of coursework at a high school or college where English is the primary language of instruction may be exempt from this requirement.
Recommendation Letters
Dickinson College requires two letters of recommendation. These letters should ideally be written by teachers, counselors, or other individuals who can speak to your academic abilities and character.
Personal Statement or Essay
Applicants must submit a personal statement or essay, which is an important part of the application process. The essay prompts vary, but it generally requires students to share their personal experiences, motivations, and aspirations.
Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee. However, students who demonstrate financial need can request a fee waiver.
Proof of Financial Support (for international students)
International applicants need to provide proof of financial support to demonstrate that they can fund their education and living expenses in the U.S. This may include bank statements, affidavits, or scholarship awards.
Additional Documents for International Students
International students may be required to submit additional documents, such as a copy of their passport, visa information, or any other documents required by the U.S. immigration authorities.
