Drake University

Drake University is a private institution located in Des Moines, Iowa. Undergraduate and graduate programmes are available, as well as professional programmes in business, law, and pharmacy. Drake's law school is one of the 25 oldest in the country.

Drake University History

George T. Carpenter, a teacher and pastor, and Francis Marion Drake, a Union general during the Civil War, established Drake University in 1881. Drake was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the time, but no religious affiliation is officially recognised today. The first classes began in 1881, with 77 students and only one building, Student's Home. Drake University's law school, one of the country's 25 oldest, dates back to 1865.

Drake University Libraries

     Cowles Library is the name of Drake University's library. Cowles Library is Iowa's largest private academic library. Its mission is to support Drake University's educational goals by providing services, collections, technology, and learning opportunities that enable faculty and students to successfully access and use information. The building is also a selective Federal Depository Library for government documents, and it is open to the public during regular building hours. The public can use a computer dedicated to electronic government publications.

Drake University Housing services

     Drake University's seven residential halls provide housing services. Each of Drake's eight residence halls has everything you need for a great home away from home: nicely furnished rooms, air conditioning, cable and wireless internet, cable TV, common areas for socialising, and kitchens for cooking up a special treat. Every residence hall floor has its own resident assistant (RA), who serves as a friend and resource, and there are numerous organized activities that allow you to meet new people. You may also discover that your new home comes with some proud old traditions, which is one of the reasons that each building has its own distinct personality.

Drake University Medical services

       The Student Health Center at Drake University provides medical services. The American Republic Student Health Center is an on-campus medical facility that provides high-quality care to Drake students. One nurse practitioner and two registered nurses work at the Health Center. Students can get immediate answers to medical questions; receive corrective treatment, and assistance in connecting with local physicians and hospitals when a higher level of medical care is required.

      Drake University student clubs are provided by departments of the student government. Drake University has 160 student clubs and organisations, so you're almost certain to find something that matches your interests, talents, and goals. If you don't have one, you can start your own. Drake University has only one campus, which is in Des Moines, Iowa. Des Moines is the capital and most populous city of the United States state of Iowa. It also serves as the county seat of Polk County. Warren County is bordered by a small portion of the city. On September 22, 1851, it was incorporated as Fort Des Moines, which was shortened to "Des Moines" in 1857. It is named after the Des Moines River, which was likely adapted from the early French name, Rivière Des Moines, which means "River of the Monks." According to the 2020 census, the city had a population of 214,133 people.
