Eastern Michigan University History
Eastern Michigan University was established in the year 1849 as Michigan State Normal School. It is a public research university situated in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The university gained its recognition from school to university in the year 1959 when it established the Graduate School and in 2005, the university introduced its Honours Program. The university is regulated by an eight member board of Regents who are appointed by the Governor of Michigan for the period of 8 years.

Eastern Michigan University is a large and a well-known public university. It has got seven schools and colleges namely College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, College of Education, College of Health and Human Services, College of Technology, an Honours College and a Graduate School. The university offers more than 200 major and minor courses at undergraduate level and more than 170 graduate courses. There are six academic divisions and eight university sites. It provides online programs and research based programs in the university.
