Eastern Virginia Medical School was founded in the year 1969 by Henry Clay Hofheimer II. In 1972, the medical school received its accreditation then in 1973 it started admitting the students. The main motive behind this medical school was to improve the health care facilities in the region to help the community. In the preceding years, the school started with its programs like the residency training program. The school gradually received huge amount of funds and donations and was able to expand the school.
