key documents and requirements you need to prepare when applying to a master’s program at EPHE (in partnership with Université?PSL):
Bachelor’s degree certificate or equivalent
You must hold a recognized bachelor’s (licence) in a relevant field. Degrees from outside France need certified translations into French or English.
Academic transcripts
Provide transcripts for every year of your undergraduate studies. All non?French/french-language documents must have certified translations.
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A detailed résumé highlighting your academic background, research interests, relevant coursework, and any relevant experience.
Cover letter or letter of motivation
Explain your academic goals, why you want to pursue this master’s, and how it aligns with EPHE’s research focus. Typically 1–2 pages.
Research proposal and tutor agreement
For all humanities?focused tracks you must include a short project outline and obtain the approval of a potential academic tutor affiliated with PSL. M2 applicants often submit a 3?page proposal with bibliography.
Language proficiency certificate
Non?French-speaking applicants must show at least B2 level in French (DALF/DELF) if courses are in French. If you lack formal proof, an interview or placement test may be required. Some programs may require English proficiency instead if courses are in English.
