Know moreIn April 2025, UFPA awarded an honorary degree to Mamadou Ba, recognizing his contributions to anti-racist and human rights activism, as well as his academic achievements.
In 2019, UFPA was ranked as the 29th best institution in Brazil and the leader in the North region among 197 Brazilian Higher Education Institutions, according to the Folha de São Paulo University Ranking (RUF).
UFPA has been involved in international academic exchanges, including hosting Fulbright Scholars. For instance, during the 1986–1987 academic year, Spencer Titley from the University of Arizona conducted research in geology at UFPA under the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
Over the years, UFPA has expanded its reach by establishing multiple campuses across the state of Pará, including in cities like Abaetetuba, Altamira, and Bragança. This expansion has increased access to higher education in the region and diversified the university's academic offerings.
