Step-by-Step Guide to Admission Requirements at Fort Lewis College

Application & Fee

 • Submit the FLC undergraduate application (or via CommonApp). 

 • Non-refundable application fee is $40 (fee waivers available in cases of financial need) 

High School Transcript / Coursework

 • Submit official high school transcripts (or equivalent: GED, HiSET) 

 • FLC recommends (and uses as a consideration) a solid college preparatory high school curriculum:

  – 4 years of math 

  – 4 years of English 

  – 3 years of science, 3 years of social science, 1 year of world language, 2 years of academic electives 

GPA / Academic Performance

 • Middle 50% of admitted students have high school GPAs between 3.11 and 3.95 

 • Applicants with GPAs below 3.0 are encouraged to submit a personal statement explaining their academic journey 

 • For transfer applicants: a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.4 across college coursework is required 

Standardized Tests (SAT / ACT)

 • FLC is test-optional. Applicants may submit ACT / SAT scores, but it is not mandatory. 

Personal Statement / Essay (Optional but Encouraged)

 • A 200-500 word writing sample / personal statement is optional but recommended to strengthen your application. 

For International Applicants

 • Standard requirements apply (application, transcripts, possibly English proficiency tests) 

 • FLC uses the same application and policies; international students are considered under the undergraduate admissions path. 

Transfer Students

 • Submit a completed application + $40 fee. 

 • Provide official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities. 

 • If fewer than 24 college credits, also supply high school transcripts and possibly test scores. 

Degree / Credit Requirements

 • For a Bachelor’s, students must complete 120 credits, with at least 36 upper-division credits, and at least 30 credits completed at FLC. 

 • Maintain a minimum institutional GPA of 2.0 to retain good standing.
