Franciscan University of Steubenville was founded in 1946 and is located in Steubenville, Ohio. It was initially founded as the College of Steubenville. In its initial years, the college was successful however, gradually the college started going down. However, after Rev. Michael Scanlan was elected President he incorporated a few changes that again led the college to rise.

Franciscan University of Steubenville offers over 40 majors and seven Masters programs. It also offers pre-professional programs, minors, and dual degree programs. The dual degree programs essentially mean that students can pursue the science or liberal arts curriculum for two years at the University and further pursue an engineering course at a partnered University. This advantage leads them to have a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree from both Universities.
