1.    Academic Excellence:

    •    High School Curriculum: Applicants are expected to have completed a challenging high school curriculum, including advanced coursework in mathematics, science, and English.

    •    Grade Point Average (GPA): A competitive GPA is essential. The average GPA of admitted students is approximately 4.1 on a 4.0 scale, indicating that successful applicants typically have nearly straight A’s in their coursework. 

    2.    Standardized Testing:

    •    SAT or ACT Scores: Submission of standardized test scores is required. Competitive applicants often present:

    •    SAT: Middle 50% range between 1360 and 1540.

    •    ACT: Middle 50% range between 31 and 35. 

    3.    Application Components:

    •    Application Form: Georgia Tech exclusively uses the Common Application for first-year admissions. 

    •    Personal Essays: Responses to prompts that provide insight into the applicant’s character and experiences.

    •    Extracurricular Activities: A detailed list highlighting leadership roles, community service, and personal achievements.

    •    Letters of Recommendation: While not required, applicants may submit up to two letters, preferably from a teacher and a school counselor.
