In 1945 as part of the Auburn School District, the Green River College started as a program of adult evening education. It was approved to become a community college in 1963 and began technical and professional programs in 1964. In 2014 the school changed its name from Green River Community College to Green River College. Presently the campus is located on Lea Hill in Auburn, Washington.

The college offers more than 100 programs of study. It offers a wide variety of majors in sciences, humanities and social sciences. The top transfer programs of Green River College include Art/Design, Business, Health Sciences, Communication, Computer Science, Engineering Information Technology and Aviation. One of the college's most popular programs is Aviation Technology. Students learn in Green River's new state-of-the-art air traffic control lab and flight simulator.

Green River College has application deadlines 4 times a year: Fall (September), Winter (December), Spring (March) and Summer (June). Bachelor of Applied Science in Aeronautical Science prepares students for successful entry into careers in the fast-paced field of aviation. The aviation industry is rapidly expanding locally, nationally and globally. The BAS in Aeronautical Science will prepare you for success in this career field. The program has been developed with the help and guidance of industry professionals. Classes are taught by teachers with extensive industry experience. The BAS in Aeronautical Science program's intent is to equip you not only with a specific skill set, but also with a broad understanding of the industry's scope.
