Gunma University History
Gunma University also known as GU, Gundai or Gaunma Daigaku is a Japanese university located in Maebashi City in Gunma Prefecture. The university was established in 1949 after Maebashi College of Medical Science, Gunma Youth Normal School, Gunma Normal School, and Kiryu Technical College were merged. Today, the university enrolls over 6400 students. 

Gunma University Programs, Courses, and Schools
Gunma University is home to four faculties, four graduate schools, and seven research institutes offering a wide range of programs at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. At the undergraduate level, the university offers programs in Education, Medicine, Engineering, and Social and Information Studies. 
Gunma University offers similar courses at the graduate level in its four graduate schools. The Biosignal Genome Resource Center, Heavy Ion Medical Center, Advanced Technology Research Center, Innovative Center for Cooperative Research, and Center for Material Research by Instrumental Analysis cater to research and academic communities.

 Gunma University Campuses
Gunma University comprises of three campuses which are located in Aramaki-machi, Showa, and Kiryu. The Aramaki-machi serves as the administrative headquarters of the university which houses most of the schools and research institutes. The university campus has excellent connectivity to Tokyo and Osaka through high-speed trains.
Gunma University campus offers a wide range of services to students such as classrooms, lecture theatres, libraries, study spaces, computer labs, and high-speed internet in addition to sports, health, and leisure services.

Gunma University is ranked amongst top 1000 universities in the world by Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The university also ranks 62nd in Japan and in 301+ bracket in the University Impact Rankings of 2019 by Times Higher Education.
Gunma University has a very high research output and is ranked as in the bracket of 751-800 in the QS World University Rankings. QS Top Universities ranks the university amongst top 50 educational institutions in Japan.  

Gunma University USP

Gunma University is a selective institution and has a 39.4% acceptance rate. The admission policies are strict and getting a place in the chosen program is highly competitive. The university also offers tuition fee exemptions and a number of scholarships to select students. 
Gunma University also offers a range of study abroad options through its International Exchange Office. The university students can study in prestigious institutions in Asia, Europe, and America for summer school and semester abroad.
