Harz University of Applied Studies is a public university which was established in 1991. The university has two campuses located in Wernigerode and Halberstadt, Germany.

Harz University of Applied Studies has two Faculties located in Wernigerode campus, i.e. Faculty of Automation and Computer Science and Faculty of Business Studies. The Halberstadt campus comprises one faculty; Faculty of Public Management. The university has three associated institutes, such as: Harz University Group, PubliCConsult, and Institute for Automation & Computer Science. The university also has a Competence Centre for Information and Communication Technologies and Business-oriented Services.

Harz University of Applied Studies comprises more than 3,300 students.

Harz University of Applied Studies provides scholarship opportunities to the students on the basis of academic excellence. The Wernigerode campus holds various art exhibitions on regular basis. The exhibition targets a wide range of full-time students and amateur artists from the region or other areas. The university has done researches on e-government for business organizations, polymer fibers, application of geographic information systems and web-mapping-services, tourism for generation 50 plus, security, distribution and e-government, automated vehicular disposition, microcontroller applications, and legal basis of e-administration.
