It is imperative to apply at least three months in advance. A tourist visa cannot be converted to a student permit. Upon arrival in Geneva, you must apply for a biometric residence permit (B or L booklet) with the Cantonal Population Office for Migration (OCPM) within 14 days
Yes, upon completion of their studies, students have the opportunity to apply for a "job search" permit. The application must be submitted to the OCPM and includes a copy of the diploma and proof of financial means. For students from outside the EU/EFTA, this post-graduation permit is valid for six months and is non-renewable. During this time, any ancillary work is limited to 15 hours per week .
