Hendrix College History

Hendrix College history started as a primary school named Central Institute in the year 1876. It was founded by Rev. Isham L. Burrow at Altus, Arkansas. In the year 1881, the college was renamed Central Collegiate Institute. It was designed as a male college but in 1889 female students were allowed to take admission and it became a co-educational institution.
