Husson University was founded in the year 1898 as a private institution in Bangor, Maine. The US institution is the only university in Bangor. The university was initially named as Shaw School of Business, before attaining the university status in 2008. Bangor was ranked as the 8th safest city in the USA and has one of the lowest crime rates. Two other campuses are located in Westbrook and Presque Isle.

The university offers over 80 programs at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate level at the College of Business, the College of Health and Education, the College of Science and Humanities, and the School of Pharmacy, and at the New England School of Communication. Some of the popular majors at the university are Business Administration, Management, Health Profession and Related Programs, Criminal Justice, and Psychology.

Over 3,500 students are enrolled in full-time programs at the university. 2,800 students study bachelor’s programs and 700 students pursue master’s programs. The student-faculty ratio at the university is 14:1, with nearly 147 full-time faculties teaching at the institution. The average class size is 21 students.

Almost 90% of the students studying full-time programs at Husson qualify to receive financial aid and scholarships. The university athletics division is the member of NCAA Division III. Over 400 athletes take part in intercollegiate athletics, and over 600 students actively participate in intramural programs. Professional organizations such as Public Relations Student Society of America, The English Society, Criminal Justice Club etc, are some of the many opportunities available to students at the campus.
