Do I need a Foundation or Pre-Masters programme to study at university?

Yes—IFG’s 9-month Foundation Programmes are equivalent to UK A Levels. They allow international students who have completed 11 or 12 years of education to enter undergraduate (bachelor’s) programmes directly at partner universities in the UK and Australia. Pre-Masters are designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree but don’t meet entry requirements for the UK’s master’s programmes.

Which Foundation subjects can I choose at IFG?

IFG offers five Foundation Programmes: Business Management, Social Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, and Medical Foundation Programme. Each includes tailored modules—like maths, economics, physics, or biology—plus English language support throughout.

Is there a minimum age to enroll in IFG programmes?

Yes. You must be at least 16 years old at the start of the course, meaning you’ll typically be 17 when entering university. Universities generally accept this, though some may require a guardian or impose restrictions for those under 18. IFG will guide you through these requirements before you apply.

Do I need an IELTS certificate to apply to IFG?

No—it’s not mandatory. If you don’t have an IELTS or equivalent, you can take IFG’s online English placement test, followed by a brief interview, to assess your level.

Will I receive help applying to university after IFG?

Absolutely. In your first term, IFG offers one-to-one guidance on university selection based on your goals, followed by personal statement feedback, UCAS application assistance, and support until you receive your university offer.

What university destinations does IFG support?

IFG collaborates with numerous UK and Australian universities—including Russell Group members like Birmingham, Leeds, Queen’s Belfast, and Liverpool. Successful Foundation graduates are guaranteed progression to partner undergraduate programmes.

Where is IFG’s Abu Dhabi centre located and is it safe?

The IFG centre is located in Al Nahyan Camp—a quiet, secure neighbourhood near Al Wahda Mall. The area is known for its low crime rate and strong public safety standards.

What do students need to prepare for arrival in the UAE?

IFG provides a pre-arrival guide listing essential items to bring—passport, academic documents, passport photo, electronics, prescriptions, summer clothes, and cash. You should also keep photocopies in your luggage and leave copies with family.

IFG provides part scholarships (10%–50%) to deserving students. After receiving an offer, eligible applicants may request and submit a scholarship form.

Can IFG help arrange student housing?

Yes. IFG assists Abu Dhabi students in securing hotel or rental accommodation within walking distance (typically 5 minutes).

Can I work while studying at IFG?

No. Working is not permitted while studying at IFG under a Tourist or Standard Visitor Visa. However, after progressing to university-level study, students may work part-time under UK student visa regulations.
