Established in 1858, the Iowa State University is  public flagship, land-grant and space-grant research university located in Ames, Iowa, United States. It is the largest university in the state of Iowa and is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Research University with very high research activity.

Iowa State comprises of various colleges and schools: College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Design, Engineering, Graduate, Human Sciences, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Ivy College of Business, Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication and the School of Education. The university offers over 100 bachelors programs, 112 master’s degree programs and 83 PhD Level Programs. Few of its most popular programs are  Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Engineering; Agriculture, Agriculture Operations, and Related Sciences; Biological and Biomedical Sciences; and Family and Consumer Sciences/Human Sciences. The university follows a semester based academic calendar.

Iowa State University has a total student population of more than 35,700 students. The student to faculty ratio at the university is 19:1 and the acceptance rate is 87%.

ISU is affiliated with the Iowa Space Grant Consortium and is a certified “Innovation and Economic Prosperity University,” a designation given only 54 other public universities It is also the member of AAU which consists of 62 leading research universities in North America.  The agriculture and forestry programs of ISU are consistently ranked top 15 in the world by QS. In engineering specialties, Iowa State's biological/agricultural engineering program is ranked first, the mechanical and civil are ranked 9th and 16th nationally in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report.

Eliza attended the Brandenton Preparatory Academy (American Curriculum), Dubai and graduated with an overall GPA of 3.58. She applied for the environmental sciences major with pre-veterinary option to US universities that does not require SAT or ACT, and received acceptances from Colorado State University, Cornell College, Emory and Henry College, Ohio Wesleyan University and Iowa State University. She chose Ohio Wesleyan University as her top choice for her major.
