University History
In 1858, Iowa State University was founded as a public land-grant research university in Ames, Iowa. It is one of the largest University in the Iowa State and the third largest university in the Big 12 athletic conference. On September 11, 1862 Iowa Legislature accepted the provisions of the 1862 Morrill Act and Iowa State became the nation's first designated land-grant institution. The university was officially renamed Iowa State University of Science and Technology on July 4, 1959. The Iowa State University is spread on 2,000 acres of land.

Campus
Iowa State University’s campus consists of over 160 buildings. The central campus is built on 490 acres of land. Iowa State campus is one of the twenty-five most beautiful campuses in the United States of America. Campus buildings, includes buildings like- the Campanile, Beardshear Hall, and Curtiss Hall. The campus also has a preserved central lawn, a place where students study, relax, and socialize together. The university has various museums which includes; the Brunnier Art Museum, Farm House Museum, the Art on Campus Program, the Christian Petersen Art Museum, and the Elizabeth and Byron Anderson Sculpture Garden. The Museums also consist of a multitude of distinct exhibits, each of them promotes the understanding and delight of the visual arts as well as it attempts to include a wide interaction between the science and technology and arts.
