Jilin University History
Established in 1946, the Jilin University is a public university located in Changchun City in the Jilin province of China. It is a leading national research university in China and is a Class-A Double First Class University. It is under the direct jurisdiction of China’s Ministry of Education.

The university offers a diverse list of programs through its 129 undergraduate majors, 60 first-level master’s degree authorization points, 48 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 298 second-level master's degree authorization points, 264 second-level doctoral degree authorization points, and 42 post-doctoral research stations. The university has over 73,000 students enrolled in its various programs which include more than 41800 undergraduates, 19000 masters’ students and 8100 doctoral students. To impart education to the students enrolled the university has over 6650 teachers.

The university has 5 national key laboratories, 6 national and local joint engineering laboratories, 1 national engineering laboratory, 1 national engineering technology research center, 6 key humanities and social science research bases of the Ministry of Education, and key laboratories of the Ministry of Education. The university library has a collection of 7.75 million books, which is recognized as the library of UNESCO, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the World Bank.
