Kazan Federal University History

Kazan Federal University is located in Kazan, Russia. It was founded in 1804 in the name of Kazan Imperial University. The university is known as the birthplace of organic chemistry, and the birthplace of electron spin resonance. The first students, enrolled in 1805 were graduated from the First Kazan Gymnasium. During the 19th century, the University has been the largest center for Oriental Studies in Europe and the birthplace of the world-famous Kazan Linguistic School founded by Jan Baudouin de Courtenay.

Kazan Federal University Campuses

Kazan Federal University’s Main Campus is situated in downtown Kazan, The oldest part of the Main Building includes three classic portals along with the white foreside.  The Main Building Yard now comprises of the central administrative offices, the Anatomical Theatre, the Library, chemistry and physics laboratories, and the Observatory. Also, a 7-storey laboratory building was added to the campus.
