Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (engineering, science or related subject) from a recognised institution. For GRIAT (a Master’s programme within KNRTU-KAI), it states: “Bachelor of Science in engineering (average grade min. 4.0)”. 

For English-taught or double-degree Master’s programmes (such as GRIAT), additional requirements may apply: e.g., English language proficiency B2 (IELTS min. 6.0) and interview with programme coordinators (Russian and German). 

For Russian-taught Master’s programmes, the English language requirement may be less stringent (e.g., B1-B2) and IELTS not mandatory, but the applicant still must satisfy subject-specific prerequisites (for example: “Hydrodynamics, heat and mass transfer, mathematical and computer modelling” for Chemical & Energy Engineering).
