Kennesaw State University History

Kennesaw State University's history started as a daughter organization of the University System of Georgia. It was founded by the Board of Regents in 1963. It was officially established in 1964 as Cobb County Junior College. In 1966 it was renamed Kennesaw Junior College with a student enrolment of more than 1,100 students. It achieved University status in 1996.
