Kyushu University is a Japanese National University established in the year 1903. The University is located in Fukuoka, in the Island of Kyushu. It is one of the most prestigious largest public University in Japan. The University has partnered with 115 foreign universities. Currently, there are 11 overseas offices located around the Globe aiming to recruit outstanding international students. The University has five campus: Hakozaki, Maidashi, Ohashi, Chikushi, and Ito.
The University’s Undergraduate programs are taught in 11 schools: School of letters, School of Education, School of Law, School of Economics, School of Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Design and School of Agriculture. The University offers Graduate programs through 18 graduate schools: Humanities, Social and cultural studies, Human-Environment studies, International graduate programs in Law, Law school, Economics, Business, Sciences, Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Dental science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Design, Information Science and Electrical engineering, Engineering Sciences, Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences and the School of Systems Life Sciences. Kyushu University Hospital is affiliated with the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Dental Sciences.
Kyushu University has a total number of 18500+ students in the Undergraduate and Graduate programs. There are 2057 faculty members including 289 non-Japanese faculties. The courses are offered in English. The student to faculty ratio in the University is 9:1. International students ratio is 12 percent.
Kyushu University offers a number of scholarships for international students like Topia leisure scholarship, JASSO – encourage privately financed international students learning costs, Fukuoka International Student Scholarship, Ushio Foundation Scholarship, Ajinomoto Scholarship, and Sun Noh Scholarship. All the five campuses of Kyushu University has a fully functional Libraries. The Ito campus Library has an automated storage and retrieval system installed.
Notable Alumni: Hakaru Hashimoto (Medical scientist Discoverer of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), Heitaro Nakajima (PhD, Led sony’s compact disc project in the 1970’s), Koichi Wakata (PhD, was a veteran of four NASA space shuttle).
