La Trobe University History

The La Trobe University Act was passed by Victorian Parliament on December 9, 1964, and the university was founded in 1964. Following the establishment of the University of Melbourne (1853) and Monash University (1853), the Victorian Parliament passed an Act to establish La Trobe University (1958).

La Trobe University Campuses

 La Trobe University is a multicampus university with its original and main campus in the Melbourne metropolitan area, in the Bundoora suburb of Melbourne's northwestern suburbs. It is the country's largest metropolitan campus, covering over 267 hectares (660 acres). Except for education, pharmacy, and dentistry, which are all based in Bendigo, the campus is the major base for all of La Trobe's core courses.

La Trobe University's Bundoora campus has roughly 22,000 students and so various services like as a library, restaurants, pubs, stores, banks, and an art gallery.

Borchardt, La Trobe University's main library, is a premier academic library that serves all of the university's campuses as a single library service. The Borchardt Library on the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus has the greatest percentage of the physical collection, provides centralised services for all campus libraries, and serves the CBD campuses.

The Heyward Library on the Bendigo campus and The David Mann Library on the Albury-Wodonga campus are the other La Trobe University libraries.

1. La Trobe College Excellence Scholarships

The La Trobe College Excellence Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit by La Trobe University to all students except citizens of Australia and New Zealand. The students studying an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at the university can apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria/Scholarship Guidelines 
- Scholarships are based on merit and are open to all the students across all campuses except Sydney.
- The applicant should meet English Language and academic requirements and should not be enrolled in a Diploma course,     Foundation program, Postgraduate Research degree, Exchange and Study Abroad program, Postgraduate enabling program, or   ELICOS.
How to apply
The Scholarship Committee will automatically consider the student’s application for the scholarship at the time of admission provided the student meets the academic and language requirements.

2. Alumni Advantage Scholarships

The Alumni Advantage Scholarships are offered by La Trobe University to all local and international students who have previously studied at the university and are intending to pursue any postgraduate program at the university.

Eligibility Criteria/Scholarship Guidelines 
- The scholarship is available to all students who have previously studied at the university and intending to study for a postgraduate program.
How to apply
 An applicant must apply for the scholarship along with the postgraduate application by producing the previous qualification credentials obtained from the university.
