Russell E. Lawrence founded Lawrence Technological University as the Lawrence Institute of Technology (LIT) in Highland Park, Michigan, in 1932. The university relocated to Southfield in 1955 and has since grown to 107 acres (0.43 km2).

Visas & immigration support

Lawrence Technological University's International Student Services Office (ISSO) is a critical component of the United States government's homeland computer security system known as SEVIS. Lawrence Technological University (LTU) To obtain an F-1 visa, a student must present an I-20 issued by Lawrence Tech as proof of acceptance as a student. The I-20 form is used to apply for a F visa at US consulates, and it is also required if you leave the country and need to return. A DS-2019 issued by Lawrence Tech is required to obtain a J-1 Visa. It functions similarly to the I-20 in that it is required to apply for a J visa at US consulates around the world, as well as if you leave the US and need to re-enter.
