Linfield University History
The university traces its history back to the time when it initially started as Oregon City College in 1849. Later in 1858, the college was chartered by the Oregon Territorial Legislature to become the McMinnville College. In 1922, it was renamed to Linfield College. It was named after the Baptist Minister, George Fisher Linfield. In 1975, the Linfield Division of Continuing Education began. Later in 1982, another campus in Portland was established. Recently, in the year 2020, the college officially became the Linfield University.

Linfield University Library is named the Jereld R. Nicholson Library. The libraries are also teaching libraries and providing resources to the students and faculties of the university.
