NASA's state-of-the-art non-invasive intracranial pressure monitoring, as well as developments in nuclear medicine, microbiome, and AI-driven diagnostics, are further significant innovations.
Researcher Rūta Inăūraitė of the LSMU Institute for Digestive Research's Clinical and Molecular Gastroenterology Laboratory attended the forum to discuss the connections between microbiome research and cutting-edge organoid-based research techniques. Nowadays, gut microbiome research is acknowledged globally as one of the most promising fields of practical biomedical research, revolutionizing the diagnosis and treatment of contemporary diseases. In this area, LSMU researchers at the Institute for Digestive Research have garnered significant national and worldwide reputation.
Under the direction of Professor Ragauskas, the Health Telematics Science Institute created the world's first non-invasive intracranial pressure meter. Over the past few years, VittaMed, the business established to develop the medicine, has drawn ten million dollars in investment funds. NASA scientists and researchers were interested in the technology, which was patented in both the USA and the EU. Astronauts and neurological patients are being tested for intracranial pressure using this special Lithuanian-made apparatus.
