Lomonosov Moscow State University is a public research university which was founded in the year 1755 by Mikhail Lomonosov and is situated in Moscow, Russia. It houses the tallest educational building in the world. The University is the highest-ranking Russian educational institution according to 2018 QS World Rankings and is widely considered the most prestigious university in the former Soviet Union.

Lomonosov Moscow State University has more than 30 Faculties, a few of them are Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, Faculty of Physics, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Materials Science, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Bioengineering and Bioinformatics, Faculty of Soil Science, Faculty of Geology, Faculty of Geography, Faculty of Fundamental Medicine, Faculty of Fundamental Physical and Chemical Engineering, Faculty of History, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Economics and many more. The University comprises more than 10 research centres, many institutes, and Graduate schools as well. 

Lomonosov Moscow State University consists of more than 47,000 students, about 40,000 undergraduates study at the university, more than 7,000 graduates, and over 5,000 specialists do the refresher course here. The University has more than 6,000 professors and lecturers, and about 5,000 researchers work for the faculties and research institutes. Every year Moscow University enrolls about 4,000 international students and postgraduates from all over the world.

Lomonosov Moscow State University comprises four museums, Museum of Geography of Moscow State University, Anuchin Research Institute and Museum of Anthropology, Museum of Zoology, and Museum of MSU History for the purpose of giving students in-depth knowledge and a comprehensive understanding about diverse things. The University consists of “The Moscow State Library”. The Library is open to the general public and includes about 10 million books, 2.5 million among them in foreign languages. The university also provides scholarships to the students on the basis of academic excellence.
