The Alpha Xi Delta Award

Established in 1956, the Alpha Xi Delta Award is given each year to a graduating class member who has demonstrated academic achievement in the Department of Communication and expertise in the practical application of oral communication skills. The recipient needs to have declared a major or minor in the department and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5. The choice is made by the Department of Communication professors. The winner receives a year's membership in the National Communication Association from the Communication Faculty in addition to a monetary reward from the Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity.

The Charles Fritz Absolon Memorial

The Department of Geology faculty selects the deserving graduating geology major each year, and that student is given the Charles Fritz Absolon Memorial Prize. The library books and magazines that year were acquired with funds from the Charles Fritz Absolon Memorial Fund, bearing the recipient's name on the bookplates. In addition, the receiver is given a certificate of acknowledgment.
