Marietta College is an independent liberal arts college located in Marietta, Ohio. Marietta College campus is about three city blocks away from downtown Marietta and enrolls 1,200 full-time students.

Marietta College History

Marietta College was founded in 1797 as the Muskingum Academy, marking the beginning of higher education in Ohio. A committee of Marietta citizens, led by General Rufus Putnam (the "Father of Ohio"), met in April 1797, only nine years after Ohio was settled, to establish a college.

Marietta College Programs, Courses, and Schools

Marietta College offers over 50 undergraduate majors in the arts, sciences, and engineering, as well as graduate programmes in Physician Assistant, Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and Athletic Training. Marietta College is a Phi Beta Kappa liberal arts college that requires all students, regardless of major, to take Quantitative Reasoning, Artistic Expression, Civilization & Culture, Social Analysis, and Scientific Inquiry courses.

Marietta College Achievements/USP

Marietta College is the sole liberal arts college that provides a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. The college's engineering offerings were expanded in 2019 with the addition of a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. Marietta College keeps a partnership with the University of International Relations, a university affiliated with the People's Republic of China's Ministry of State Security.

Marietta was ranked 3 for Best Value Schools and 8 for Regional Colleges in the Midwest by US News & World Report in 2021. Marietta was ranked 20th out of 80 Ohio colleges by College Factual. Washington Monthly ranked MC 62 for bachelor's degrees in 2020.

Campus

Marietta College's campus has world-class infrastructure, buildings, and facilities. Marietta College's campus features a library, academic buildings, housing, a cafe, a research centre, a medical centre, and much more.

Legacy library is the name of Marietta College's library. The library has the best collections of books, online materials, study spaces, and other resources. There are numerous special collections available, including: Historic books, the Rodney M. Housing services

Marietta College's housing and residences departments provide housing services. Co-ed residence halls are available at Marietta College. There are no curfew hours, but the main doors of the residence halls are locked 24 hours a day. Computerized card access is used to gain entry. All student rooms have traditional door and window locks. All members of the Office of Community Living, including Assistant Directors and Community Advisers, live in the residence halls and are on call 24 hours a day. All staff members receive training in enforcing residence hall security policies and attend lectures and seminars about campus safety and security.

Marietta College has more than 50 student clubs (which are growing each year). Academic, Athletics & Recreation, Campus Life, Cultural, Political, Religious, and Service organisations are all represented on campus. If you can't find anything that suits you, starting a new student organization is simple. All you need are 5 dedicated students with a common interest and a faculty/staff advisor. Marietta College's Dyson Baudo Recreation Center offers students sports and fitness services. An indoor track that encircles four multipurpose courts, a crew training facility, a fitness centre, two racquetball courts, a wheelchair-accessible weight room, a multipurpose room, and a two-story climbing wall are all available.

Marietta College's health and wellbeing center provides health and wellness services. Individual, couples, and group counselling are available at the Dr. J. Michael Harding Center for Health and Wellness (CHW) for a variety of clinical issues. The CHW employs a diverse professional staff with a range of theoretical perspectives. Students from Marietta College visit the CHW for a variety of reasons. Some students find that speaking with a counselor just once is enough to resolve the immediate issue. Many of the students who visit the CHW are having academic difficulties, such as time management issues, concentration problems, a lack of motivation, or concerns about their study skills.

Residential Life

The office of community living oversees Marietta College's residential life. The Office of Community Living assists students living on and off campus with their concerns and provides students with assistance in a variety of areas. These areas include student conduct, educational and social programming, assisting with a roommate and personal problems, and dealing with residence hall maintenance issues. Community living collaborates closely with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and can help students with a variety of issues. Resident Assistants (RAs) are specially trained sophomores, juniors, and seniors assigned to each section of a residence hall. They help individual students with personal, academic, and social concerns, and they help residents develop a sense of community. Your RA is one of the best people to go to if you have any questions or concerns.

Part-time jobs

Marietta College allows students to work part-time while attending classes. Many work-study positions are posted to Handshake, the Career Center's online job posting site, by campus offices. Student Safety

The Marietta College Police Department is primarily in charge of campus law enforcement. Officers from the MCPD patrol the campus, parking lots, residence halls, and on-campus fraternity, sorority, and theme houses 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Furthermore, they promote fire safety and awareness through demonstrations, programming, and regular inspections.
