Marshall University

Marshall University is a research-oriented university based in Huntington, West Virginia. It is a private university that was founded in the year 1837. This makes it one of the oldest and the first university in West Virginia. The university earlier started as Marshall Academy and is named after John Marshall who was the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In the year 1858, the academy became Marshall College. Finally, in 1961, it was given the status of a university. Marshall University grew and expanded its campus by adding more courses and programs. Today it is known to be one of the leading institutions in West Virginia.
