MIC’s infrastructure is designed to support a comprehensive university experience. The Limerick campus features a mix of beautifully restored historic buildings, like the Main Building, and modern, purpose-built facilities such as the TARA Building and the Teaching and Learning Building. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled with a high-speed network. It boasts a variety of lecture halls, seminar rooms, computer labs, and specialised spaces for drama, music, and science. The infrastructure is continuously upgraded, with recent developments focusing on enhancing student social spaces and research laboratories to meet evolving academic needs.
Student life at MIC is vibrant and engaging, characterised by a strong sense of community on its intimate campus. The Mary Immaculate College Students’ Union (MISU) organises a packed calendar of events, from Freshers’ Week and the annual summer ball to regular club nights and cultural events. The Careers & Employability Service at MIC offers personalised, proactive support from first year onwards. Services include one-to-one career coaching, CV and interview preparation workshops, and psychometric testing. The Service runs sector-specific events connecting students with alumni and employers, and manages the online MIC CareerLink portal. A key strength is the tailored support for aspiring teachers, including portfolio preparation and interview practice for the Post-Primary Teaching Council. Minimum entry is typically a Leaving Certificate with at least six subjects, including two H5 (Higher Level) grades and four O6/H7 grades. Specific programmes have subject prerequisites (e.g., H4 in Irish for Primary Teaching). Mature student (over 23) and QQI/FETAC pathways are also available.
