Medical University of Varna is a public university which was established in 1961. The university is located in Varna, Bulgaria. The University has a medical college which was founded in 1942 as a Nursing School, since 1997 it has been the main part of the structure of the Medical University of Varna. The university comprises of Affiliates located in Sliven, Shumen, Veliko Tarnovo.

Medical University of Varna has four faculties; Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Public Health. The affiliates offer training in the programmes "Nursing" and "Midwifery" which are full-time educational courses. These courses provide education qualification degree of bachelor, the duration of the course is 4 years and the last year is a pre-graduation internship. The lecture course for the training can also be found online. The university also comprises of Department of Foreign Language Teaching, Communications and Sport which is a successor of the Department of Foreign Languages founded in 1962. It provides language teaching in Medical Latin, Bulgarian, English, German and French languages, to the students from the four faculties and the Medical College. The Department offers also a preparatory one-year course in Bulgarian and English to the foreign students.

Medical University of Varna comprises a library which possesses around 160,000 volumes of books and periodicals. In the library fund, there are also around 500 old books on medicine, pharmacology and dental medicine. The university has different types of museums and centres, such as; Academic Clinical Research Organization, University Medico-Dental Centre, Centre for Translational Medicine and Cell Therapy, School for Ph.D. Students, Vivarium, University Centre for Eastern Medicine, and Museum of History of Medicine. The university provides scholarship opportunities to the students on the basis of academic excellence.
