The International Student Services office provides comprehensive advising on post-graduation work options, including Optional Practical Training (OPT) and STEM OPT extensions. They host workshops and individual sessions to help students understand the application process and deadlines.
For most bachelor's and master's degrees, students are eligible for 12 months of Optional Practical Training (OPT). Students who graduate from a designated STEM degree program may be eligible to apply for a 24-month extension, allowing for a total of 36 months of work authorization.
You can apply for OPT up to 90 days before your program end date and no later than 60 days after your program completion. However, it is highly recommended to apply as early as possible, as the processing time with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) can be lengthy.
