 Misericordia University was established in 1924 as College Misericordia by the Religious Sisters of Mercy; in 2007, it transformed into a university and renamed itself.

    Misericordia University's main campus is in Dallas, but the university also has a campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where it offers an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in collaboration with Orbis Education. Misericordia University's campus includes a library, fitness center, numerous educational buildings, a shopping center, a health clinic, a residential hall, sports fields, and many other amenities.

   Misericordia University library is known as Mary Kintz Bevevino Library. Misericordia University Library is located in the heart of campus and serves as a true Learning Commons. Sunday through Thursday, the Misericordia University library is open until midnight. There is always someone in the library that can help students with their research needs. Each major is assigned a librarian. Fourteen study rooms are available to students. Whiteboard walls and touch screens are among the twelve. The color printer is the only one available in the library location on campus for student use. Throughout the academic year, the Misericordia University library hosts a variety of events, including faculty recognition, the Friends Speaker Series, and National Library Week activities.

  The dean of students department provides housing services at Misericordia University. Alumnae Hall, Gildea Hall, MacDowell Hall, McGowan Hall, McHale Hall, the Townhouse Complex, two houses on Lake Street, and Graduate Housing facility, the Machell Ave. Residences are all handled by Misericordia University. Because all residential facilities are on or near campus, they offer unparalleled access to University activities and resources. Misericordia University also provided housing with dining.
